My daughter Linda is at it again! Someone hit a Woodcock with their
car and somehow noticed 4 chicks by the road. They collected them and
brought them to Linda. She is trying to find a rehabber in upstate SC
or figure out how to save them by herself. She has then in a quiet
place with lots of leaf litter and has hidden worms in the litter but

A few days ago I went on a jaunt with a group of "students" enrolled
in the Academy of Lifelong Learning of the University of South
Carolina in Aiken. We went to what was billed as an African Museum.
It turned out to be the private museum of man who was a big game
hunter and collector of African stuff--shields, spears etc. as well as

I had to prune back some junipers that had been damaged by snow.
Daffodils and narcissus are erupting through the leaf layers, as are
irises. The spring peepers were in full voice yesterday. Still no
warblers that I know of. But killdeers are back in significant
numbers.
J. Del Col

Yesterday I finally got outside and stated to clean up the flower beds
a job I usually do sometime in February. It has been so cold, rainy,
snowy etc. that I didn't notice that spring was here. I found
dianthas blooming, day lilies several inches high, shoots breaking
through here and there, lots or buds and even some early hostas

The African Gray that lived with my mother until she died was apparently
taken by raccoons that tore open his cage when he was left un-attended
out-of-doors for long periods.
I wish I could have brought him here, he was a neat personality.
